The Georgia Driver’s Education Commission provides a Grant Scholarship Program to help students in Georgia complete driver’s education. This program is available to Georgia residents aged 15-17 who hold a valid Instructional Permit or Driver’s License. It covers the 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of driving practice required by Joshua’s Law with an approved instructor.

- First Priority: Children or dependents of Georgia first responders who were disabled or killed in the line of duty, U.S. military members killed in action, or students in state custody under Georgia’s Department of Family and Children Services.
- Second Priority: Students who can show financial need based on family income.
Important Things to Know:
- Scholarships are awarded on the 1st day of each month, and you’ll be notified by email.
- Students can only apply for a scholarship once, but if not chosen, the application will be reconsidered automatically for the next two months.
- You must receive the scholarship before starting the driver’s education course, or you may not be eligible for a refund if you’ve already paid out of pocket. Be sure to check the refund policy of your chosen driving school.
